Performance Choir of Summit Choral Society (Akron, Ohio) is a 50-voice choir consisting of students in middle and high school.
Summit Choral Society seeks out quality musical and educational experiences for its singers, as demonstrated through recent major performances and tours. In the 2017-2018 season, the choir traveled to New York City to sing in the National Youth Choir at Carnegie Hall, where they were selected to perform their own set of songs as the Featured Choir. In 2017, the choir was selected to perform at the Kennedy Center as part of the Washington D.C. Memorial Day Choral Festival. The choir performed for the Ohio Choral Directors Association 2017 annual conference. Symphonic appearances include Carmina Burana with the Canton Symphony Orchestra, and Midsummer Night’s Dream and Elijah with the Akron Symphony Orchestra. As the Children's Choir Program's flagship ensemble this nationally recognized choir represents the culmination of musical learning and performance in the CCP. This season they will perform at the Smoky Mountain Music Festival as a Grand Ole Opry pre-show performance in Tennessee, Spring 2019. This amazing group of singers is active all over Ohio and were most recently invited by audition to sing at the National Organization of American Kodaly Educators National Conference in 2019! Additionally, this choir performs at various community events throughout the greater Akron community each season as well as Summit Choral Society presented concerts.
