Heather Cooper, Principal Conductor
PERFORMANCE CHOIR is a nationally recognized treble ensemble with choristers in middle school and high school. As the flagship ensemble of the Children's Choir Program, the choir blends a joyful enthusiasm for singing along with continued growth in vocal development and musicianship, creating beautiful artistic moments in song.
The choir is fortunate to receive invitations to perform for professional music organizations, including the Ohio Choral Directors Association (OCDA) conference in 2017 and 2024 and the National Conference of the Organization of American Kodaly Educators (OAKE) in 2019. The choir also tours each year, seeking out inspiring experiences that result in musical growth and lifelong memories. Those tours have included performances at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Grand Ole Opry, as well as concerts in Denver, Chicago, and New Orleans. Of all these, their most cherished concerts are those at home, in the heart of northeast Ohio.

"Summit Choral Society has made me who I am as a singer today. It has improved my confidence greatly, and I would not have had the conviction to try out for school plays and solos without it. I have made so many friends and figured out that my true passion in life is music. Summit Choral is what made me decide to pursue a career in music education. This program has made me who I am in so many ways, and I can’t imagine where I would be without it. When I become a choir director, I hope I am half as good as the choir directors I have had in Summit Choral."
